Reflection over the water
Jul 21st

In late April I was enjoying dinner with my family at Riverview Restaurant in Ashland City, Tennessee. As we finished eating, I looked out the window and noticed the moon reflecting on the Cumberland River.
Naturally, I had to run to the car and grab my tripod and camera! It was closing time and the great folks there were nice enough to allow me to go down to their dock to grab the shot.
Unfortunately, a week later this very spot was flooded by the river during the devastating Nashville flood. The restaurant was lost after being open for over 60 years. The owners are in the process of rebuilding and hope to be open by early next year. I plan to present this photo to them when they reopen.
Thanks for reading and have a wonderful day!

PPBF Weekly Photo Challenge
Jul 20th
I was reading the blog of one of my favorite new sites called the Pro Photography Business Forum and they had a photo challenge for use of shallow depth of field. Using shallow depth of field (DOF) is one of my favorite in-camera tools, it brings the focus to the subject and lets everything else behind or around it go soft and out of focus. This image was taken with my Nikon D90 with my 50mm 1.8 lens using available light. Which is one of benefits of using such a fast lens wide open. Of course there are ways to drop the background out of focus but why use that if you have it built in camera? Plus it will always look more natural this way because it is a natural effect rather then a processed effect.
I entered into the photo challenge and posted it here if your interested to check out everyone else’s work please do there are some great photos posted already!
Thanks for reading have a wonderful day!

Fall Memories in Ashland City Tn
Jul 19th
I recently stumbled across this photo from an old backup harddrive, and decided to process it with the software we have today. This is a photo of the walking bridge in Ashland City Tennessee part of the Cumberland River Bicentennial Trail during the fall of 2008. The beauty of fall is there are so many great colors to work with for photographs, add the walking bridge at sunset and boy does this photo pop! The color palette is just so cool from oranges, to blues, to green, to even some purples mixed in. I took this shot with a Nikon D300 on a tripod, 18mm-55mm Lens, used the new Lightroom 3 to process the image where I adjusted the luminance, contrast, sharpening and did some final dodging & burning to really bring in the details.
After finding this photo it has inspired me so much that I cannot wait for fall to be here. I really want to bring a bride in her wedding dress at sunset and use the fall colors to enhance her surroundings. Can you imagine the end result? A flowing dress in the wind, with vibrant color surrounding her all around. I will be making this happen this year, If your interested in a Free Bridal shoot in this location you can contact me here at Michael@michaelbromleyimaging.com
Thanks for reading along today, I hope you enjoyed it
